Reading time assumes an average silent reading speed of about 200 words per minute; speaking time assumes about 130 words per minute, a typical pace for reading aloud or presenting.
How are sentences and paragraphs counted?
Sentences are counted by splitting on ., ! and ? — paragraphs by splitting on blank lines. Like any automated count, unusual punctuation or formatting can occasionally throw off the exact number.
